ON June 1, the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board released tourist arrival figures for the first quarter of this year. It showed a slight drop from 6,665,980 last year to 6,631,669, or 0.5%.
If the rate is repeated the next three quarters, the number of visitors will total only 26,526,676 for the whole year, instead of the 31.8 million targeted for 2017. The target for last year was 30.5 million but only 26,757,392 arrived.
