THE recent rankings of local research universities have highlighted funding issues that might erode the current position of the universities if funds are not forthcoming. This predicament has its own reasons but it has come to a situation where it will stay unpoised for a period which is unknown.
Regardless of issues rising from fund cuts, the role of lecturers at research universities remains unchanged, apart from thinking of ways to bring in revenue to the university. This applies to teachers as well, as schools are also thrown into a similar situation.
