Why polygamy is not the answer


WHEN I heard the news early this month about the Kelantan state government offering their services to help Muslim men take another wife, I was utterly shocked.

Newspapers and online news portals quoted the Kelantan State Family Development, Welfare and People’s Wellbeing committee chair­person Mumtaz Md Nawi as saying the state government would help men who wanted to practice polygamy in order to encourage the birth of more Muslim children.
