THANK you to Azrul Mohd Khalib for sharing his views, “We need to break cycle of racism” (The Star, Feb 13). At the root of the problem is the fact that racism and all the other “isms” grew from primitive tribalism, which instils instinctive hostility and discrimination against people of a different race, religion, class and etc.
One key to fighting racism is to start from the beginning. Parents and schools should emphasise the importance of accepting, even celebrating, diversity and the fact that it is all right to be different.
