IN April 2008, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) introduced the rounding mechanism to the nearest five sen for over-the-counter payments. The rounding mechanism only applies to the total amount of a bill and not on individual items (Source: BNM website).
For whatever reason, the price of petrol and diesel per litre is being rounded to the nearest five sen since the April 2008 ruling.
