High time to implement action plan on ivory trade


NEWS of the seizure by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) of 254 units of ivory worth RM7.2mil believed to be smuggled in from the Democratic Republic of Congo is simply alarming.

The issue of ivory making its way into Malaysia is not new as it has been smuggled into this country in the past. Malaysia is known to be favoured by ivory smugglers.
