KEDAH, the earliest kingdom on the Malay Peninsula, may be largely underwater at the end of this century.
Earlier this month, Natural Resources and Environment Minister (NRE) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said an international scientific study conducted by experts showed that most of the Asia-Pacific islands and coastal areas would be submerged by 2100. Certain coastal areas along peninsular Malaysia were also cited in the study, and Kedah was singled out as one that would be most heavily affected. Other states that would be affected are Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
