Look out for each other

THIS is not what is supposed to be happening. The future was one of big shiny buildings and flying cars, where we had eradicated poverty, found a solution to Malthus’ overpopulation theorem and, most importantly, eliminated the spectre of wars and killing. And mankind would in its infinite wisdom usher in an unprecedented era of peace and harmony and live together despite its many variables in terms of belief or religious persuasion.

Instead, every day there are new reports of violent murders carried out under the false pretence of religious empowerment. This newest cycle is in all likelihood the most dangerous that we have ever faced. Never mind that all religions promote peace and love, individuals who perpetrate these crimes target the young, the confused and the outcasts in our society. They have the power to convince like no other and social media has given them the means to spread their messages of hate on a global scale.
