Call for royal commission of inquiry on firearms

IT appears that the number of shooting incidents has escalated in recent months, with one happening as recently as last week. On July 13, a man high on drugs allegedly shot his mother, brother, two-year-old nephew and his mother’s boyfriend with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol in Batu Maung, Penang. A week earlier, a female real estate agent was killed and her daughter injured in a shooting incident at Taman OUG, Kuala Lumpur.

On June 15, a businessman was shot dead in his car just after the Sungai Rasau toll plaza in Shah Alam and on June 21, PKR politician Bill Kayong was shot in his pick-up truck at the traffic light junction in Lutong, north of Miri city.
