THE report on the newly-elected MP of Kuala Kangsar Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid’s (pic) intention to embark on a mission to empower women in her constituency by helping them to gain proficiency in English so they can be employed is a refreshing and welcome piece of news, “Mission to help women speak good English” (The Star, June 30).
It is brave of her to say this because, unlike other politicians, she does not shy away from championing English proficiency as essential in getting jobs. She must be given credit for stating the obvious.
