A SPRAWLING artwork (pix) on display at the Living & Dying gallery of the British Museum showcases the number of medications a person in Britain roughly takes for his entire life. The part that struck me most (besides the volume of it) was at the start of the work: (shown on the right, bottom) vaccines.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that at present, between two and three million children around the world die yearly due to vaccine-preventable diseases. One of the biggest problems in bridging the gap is inaccessibility. That would translate to lack of resources, geographical obstacles, underprivileged backgrounds and poor health systems.
