Appreciate maids and pay them their dues

I REFER to the headline “On to a life with no maid” (The Star, May 24). On reading the report, I could not help thinking about how fast change has taken place in the hiring of maids. Not long ago, getting them was easy and the maids did everything. Now, they might not even live in!

It is evident that the countries which provided us with domestic maids have progressed and changed very significantly recently. We can clearly see that although these countries are still poor, they are becoming better compared to 10 years ago.
