Cashless is the way to go


The cashless payment wristband that is being introduced at the festival starting today.

I AM wondering if cashless transactions can be as ubiquitous in our country as they are abroad, like in Singapore and Australia. From my observations, the facilities for cashless transactions are already in place but several key obstacles need to be addressed by the providers in order to boost usage by consumers.

Firstly, the “downtimes” in the system need to be reduced. There’s been numerous occasions when I wanted to use the cashless option only to be shown the “system offline” notice. This has happened in popular drug store chains, gas stations, coffee chains, etc. The retailers/ vendors really need to ensure that their system is in working order so that customers will not be inconvenienced. All systems would have a particular benchmark and the respective standards so perhaps we can look at these to reduce the downtime hours.
