There’s a dire need for specialists


I REFER to the letters “A disappointing wait for master’s programme” (The Star, April 27) and “Create more slots in master’s programme (The Star, April 28) and concur with the writers that urgent and proactive measures must be taken immediately to arrest this issue.

I hope that the public universities are assisted quickly to increase the number of slots for the medical masters so that we do not frustrate the budding young doctors who aspire to be specialists and sub-specialists.
