Solve the issue of illegal workers first

I FULLY support Tam Yeng Siang’s view in “Is it worth supporting these industries?” (The Star, April 21). I expected the SOS for foreign workers to come soon after the Government made the decision to freeze the importation of foreign labour.

The irony is no employer or recruiting agent has come out positively to help the Government deal with the illegal workers whose number exceeds the legalised ones by a ratio of three to one. Instead, employers want to bring in more workers.
