I HAVE noticed the lack of security scanning for check-in luggage at our airports. In the past, this was strictly enforced in all airports in this country. Back then, luggage would not be accepted at the check-in counter if it did not have a sticker indicating that it had gone through the security scanner.
As I am a frequent flyer, I am concerned over this matter. I’ve asked why security scanning was not being done and was informed that all check-in luggage would be screened before being loaded onto the aircraft. I find this puzzling because it would be difficult to get the passenger concerned if any suspicion or clarification was needed on the contents in his or her luggage.
