Stop the littering, not ban polystyrene

WE refer to the report “WWF urges City Hall to widen ban on polystyrene” (The Star, Feb 27).

Polystyrene (PS) containers are popular and widely used in Malaysia because they are convenient and affordable. Putting a ban on PS is going to hurt the livelihoods of food hawkers and traders, and affect consumers at large.
