I REFER to the letter “Case of young doctors behaving badly” (The Star, Jan 20). The culture of “sharing” is indeed becoming an integral part of our life especially with the current technologies that, with a simple click, could open the portal that connects us to the rest of the world. Sharing is, of course, a virtue but the kind of “sharing” we do on social media is more to flaunt to draw attention to us.
We tend to share with the world photos taken on very special occasions that should only be shared with the closest friends and families. I have read a post on social media about the amount of someone’s income and how that person planned to spend it lavishly. This “show-off” culture is beginning to encroach upon our minds and affect our ability to practise moderation and humility.
