Give parents in sport due recognition

WHEN we see athletes receiving accolades for their victory in sports, we seldom take time to acknowledge the people behind them. I’m a badminton coach and I have seen first-hand how parents play a crucial role in the success of children in sports, and thus the development of their characters.

Our country is lacking in grassroots support when it comes to sports. Due to this one reason, we find it hard to have successful athletes who are capable of being world champions. Despite this, we do have a few world champions and the reason for this is parental support.
