MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian court was expected to jail eight anti-Kremlin protesters on Friday, sending a message that President Vladimir Putin will brook no challenge to his rule as neighbouring Ukraine burns, said activists.
Tension was high ahead of the hearing, as police guarding the courthouse pulled several protesters out of the crowd that gathered to support the defendants and bundled them into buses. Demonstrators shouted: "Shame!"
