CARACAS: Venezuela's opposition piled pressure on electoral authorities Monday to recount the tight vote to replace late leader Hugo Chavez, calling for protests if acting President Nicolas Maduro is formally proclaimed the winner.
With the United States and the Organization of American States (OAS) backing his demand for a vote review, opposition leader Henrique Capriles said Maduro would be an "illegitimate president" if the result was confirmed.
