Muhyiddin confirms Dr M returning to Umno
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is returning to the party.
He said that Dr Mahathir expressed his intention to return to Umno at a meeting last Saturday.
He added that he informed Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday of Dr Mahathir’s intention to rejoin the party.
Dr Mahathir, who has been a vocal critic of his hand-picked successor Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, quit Umno in May, saying that he would only return to Umno when there was a leadership change.
