Brother pleads for accident witnesses to come forward
KUALA LUMPUR: In a bid for closure on his youngest brothers death, Mohd Khairul Rizal Buhari, 31, has put up a banner at Jalan Raja Abdullah, calling for witnesses to come forward.
The banner was placed between a signage post and a tree where a hit-and-run accident that killed his brother Azrul Farez Izhar took place.
The 19-year-old youth was killed in the accident at 10pm on July 27 while riding a motorcycle to work at Jalan Doraisamy. He suffered serious internal injuries and broken legs, and died at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Eyewitness accounts said a motorcyclist had chased the car which crashed into Azrul Farez Izhar, tossing him into the air before he hit a pole, then a tree, before finally landing on the ground.
Seeking information: Mohd Khairul pointing to a dent on a signage post at the spot in Jalan Raja Abdullah where the accident in which Azrul (inset) died took place. Above him is the banner urging witnesses to come forward. According to the crowd, the motorcyclist even spoke to the vehicle driver and has all the necessary details like the vehicle registration number.
This banner is actually for the motorcyclist to read. My family and I hope he will pass by this road again, maybe on his way to work. We would like him to come forward and tell us what really happened, he said.
Stall operator Rosnah Abdul Rahman, 45, said the absence of traffic lights at the junction contributed to accidents since the road opened about two months ago.
City traffic police chief Asst Comm Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahman said police are still investigating the accident.
Those who saw or knew what happened could contact the City traffic police headquarters at 03-2071 9999 or the Rakan COP hotline 03-2115 9999, he said.
Mohd Khairul Rizal said eyewitnesses could contact him or his father at 012-2127 778 / 016-972 2027 / 03-4041 7723.
