No approval, no unloading, says Bukit Tagar
PETALING JAYA: KUB-Berjaya Enviro, which manages the Bukit Tagar landfill, said it could not allow anyone to dump their waste without prior approval from the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
“We were surprised to see garbage trucks with rubbish for the Kundang dumpsite lining up to dump their rubbish at Bukit Tagar,” said its managing director Chock Eng Tah yesterday.
“We are now having discussions with the ministry to resolve the problem and to allow us to provide services to third-party waste collectors to dump their waste at our landfill.”
The landfill currently receives waste from Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
The Solid Waste Contractors Association said the sudden closure of the dumpsites had put solid waste contractors in a fix.
Its president Francis Lai said the drastic action would give rise to increased occurrence of illegal dumping.
“I have warned our members that if they were found dumping at illegal dumpsites, they could be dismissed from the association,” he added.
