MBSA’s Europe-trip hangs in the balance
By Salina Khalid
HEADS of department and councillors from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) are supposed to be making their annual overseas trip this year as well.
The team, which would involve about 40 heads of department, senior officers and councillors, is said to have scheduled the trip sometime early this year.
“The plan was announced sometime last year and involves a week-long trip to Europe this year.
”But I do not know the progress of the trip,” said a source.
The source, who refused to be named, is a senior officer with the city council.
The officer said the trip was supposed to be part of the council's study tour and was to include visits to local councils in the countries to be visited.
The trip is part of efforts to expose the team to new environment and to enable them to learn how to better run the city.
It is also learnt that some of them would get a free trip while others have to pay from their own pocket or get a sponsor for the trip.
Meanwhile, when contacted, MBSA corporate department director Asmah Mohd Zain admitted there was a plan for the overseas trip.
However, she said it was still at the proposal level and the details of the trip had yet to be finalised.
“It is still at the proposal level.
“We still have to get permission from the state authority on the matter,” she said, adding that the trip would involve heads of department and councillors.
