Razak Baginda questioned over abduction of Mongolian model
By CECIL FUNG
KUALA LUMPUR: Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda was remanded yesterday to assist police in their investigations into the murder of a beautiful Mongolian model.
The analyst, whose name was stated as Abdul Razak Abdullah, 46, in the remand papers, was handed a five-day remand order by magistrate Manira Mohd Nor, allowing police to keep him in custody until Sunday.
The remand is to facilitate investigations under Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction based on the report lodged by the family of 28-year-old model Altantuya Shaariibuu.
He is the fourth person to be remanded in the much-publicised murder case.
Three police personnel had earlier been remanded.
Two of them – a chief inspector and a woman lance corporal – had their remand orders extended yesterday until Monday.
The extension, granted by magistrate Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Puzi, coincided with the one issued against the third police personnel – a male lance corporal – who was remanded on Tuesday.
All three are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The gruesome killing of the model received wide media coverage after her bone fragments were recovered on Monday in Puncak Alam near Shah Alam.
She had been shot dead and her body blown up with explosives.
