Pilot’s wife anxiously waiting for news
KUCHING: When Rosenani Hashim heard the news that a helicopter had gone missing in Ulu Baleh on Monday, she immediately feared that it was the one piloted by her husband Capt Razali Sani.
“My fears were confirmed when an official from Hornbill Skyways informed me at 7pm that evening that the helicopter my husband was piloting could not be traced.
“I’m now anxiously waiting for news on the crash and can only trust in God to protect him,” she said yesterday.
She added that she last spoke to her husband on Sunday when he called her by satellite phone from Belaga to let her know where he was.

Originally from Ulu Kelang, Selangor, 48-year-old Capt Razali has 29 years of experience as a pilot, including 19 years of service in the RMAF.
Meanwhile, Fatimah Nen, the wife of Razali Hassan, one of the passengers on board the helicopter, said her family only knew about the crash through the news on television on Monday night.
She and Razali’s brother Sidek went to the Survey and Mapping Department, where Razali works as a surveyor, yesterday afternoon to find out more about the incident.
Overcome by emotion, Fatimah could not speak much but hoped that her husband was safe.
The couple, from Kampung Sambir, Asajaya, has six children.
Meanwhile, torchlight flashes seen on the slopes of Bukit Batu Tiban has raised hopes that there could be survivors from the Hornbill Skyways Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter that crashed.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Deputy Comm Datuk Talib Jamal told a press conference at the Kapit police headquarters yesterday that a helicopter pilot involved in the search-and-rescue operation spotted the flashes yesterday.
However, he said aerial rescue teams were unable to reach the wreckage site as it was on a steep slope in a narrow valley.
