Lingerie reported stolen recovered from supermart
PENANG: Lingerie reported stolen from a mainland factory last year has been recovered from a supermarket here.
More than 255 brassieres and panties were seized from the supermarket at about noon on Saturday after one of the factory executives recognised the items as part of the RM600,000 consignment stolen.
The man lodged a report and a police team was sent to the supermarket to recover the stolen items.
It is learnt that the management was able to produce all the invoices and receipts to show that the lingerie were purchased legally. Police have identified the supplier for further investigations.
In another incident, a money changer at Chulia Street was robbed of foreign currencies amounting to more than RM50,000 by three men on Friday.
George Town OCPD Senior Asst Comm II Mohd Ali Mohd Yusuf said the three had entered the shop posing as customers at about 8pm, when one of them suddenly whipped out a knife and held up the moneychanger.
“The two accomplices then scooped up the foreign currencies into a bag before speeding off in a car bearing a fake registration number,” he added.
They are also said to be involved in other robberies over the past several months.
