Raya without fanfare for four blind sisters
ARAU: Four blind sisters will be celebrating Hari Raya without fanfare but with thoughts for a sister who died last year.
Che Rahmah Che Ibrahim, 71, Che Hawa, 64, Che Khalijah, 60, and Che Monea, 55, have been blind since birth.
Che Rahmah said they were sad over the death of their sister but would continue with their preparations for Hari Raya.

Che Gayah died of a heart attack when she was 68.
Also “missing” from the sisters’ celebration will be their youngest sibling, Che Zainab, 50, who is away attending a course organised by the Welfare Department in Penang.
The four sisters have been together since their parents’ death. They lead a regular life with monthly welfare contributions and help from neighbours.
“Ramadan is observed on a moderate scale. Each one of us has her own task in maintaining our home,” Che Rahmah said.
Che Khalijah said they had an intuition on what to do and they discussed with each other on what to cook before breaking fast.
She said they knew how to get around in the kitchen and the living room so it was not a problem for them to keep their house in order.
When met at their home in Kampung Titi Besi near here, the four siblings were busy preparing dishes for the breaking of fast.
The women also produce handicraft items to earn extra income.
