Taipei: Problems with a train’s braking system were reported about half an hour before it derailed in Taiwan at the weekend, killing at least 18 people, rail officials said.
The high-speed Puyuma Express tilting train, carrying 366 passengers, derailed on Sunday in the eastern town of Suao in Yilan county. Another 187 people were injured.
