FIRST it was the Panmunjom Declaration and now, after some two months, the Singapore Declaration was signed.
The central theme for both is peace for the Korean Peninsula premised on its denuclearisation. Item 3 of the Singapore Declaration was unequivocal: “Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, North Korea commits towards complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.” The continuity between the two declarations then is unmistakeable.
