More than 10,000 police officers will be deployed in a southern Chinese city to ensure an expected 30,000 spectators play by the rules at a World Cup qualifier match on Thursday evening between the Chinese national football team and its visiting South Korean rival.
Ties between the two countries have been strained by the deployment of the US-developed Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system in South Korea, prompting calls for boycotts of South Korean products from some Chinese public.
