HONG KONG: A three-year-old girl in Hong Kong had a close brush with death on Monday evening (May 16) after she ran across a busy road and collided into the side of a moving taxi.
A dashboard camera managed to capture footage of the incident, which took place at about 9.30pm.
It showed the child running into a junction at Argyle Street near Shanghai Street in Mong Kok and colliding into a passing taxi, after narrowly missing a double-decker bus.
After the collision, the three-year-old picked herself up and stumbled for a few steps before her mother and onlookers came to her aid.
The 60-year-old cab driver also stopped his vehicle and got out to check on the girl.
The 24-year-old mother and the child are reported to be from mainland China.
The girl was later taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei where she was treated for minor facial injuries and discharged soon after.
Hong Kong resident Jason Lau posted the video on social media with the caption: "Speechless."
Facebook users expressed their disapproval and concern that the girl had not been taught road safety. - The Straits Times/Asia News Network
