WHEN China was fighting for its life during the Japanese occupation, more than eight million overseas Chinese from across the world rallied to help the country.
Among them, about 3,800 drivers and mechanics from countries in South-East Asia volunteered to return to China to assist with transportation on the Burma Road, the country’s only lifeline for international aid at the time.
