MANILA, Sept 14, 2014 (AFP) - Philippine communities on Sunday prepared for flashfloods, landslides and possible storm surges as Typhoon Kalmaegi rushed towards the country, bearing powerful winds and heavy rains, authorities said.
The typhoon, with maximum winds of 160 kilometres (100 miles) per hour, is expected to hit the northeastern side of the main island of Luzon around sundown with residents prepared for the worst, government agencies said.
