FAMILY and close friends attended the wake of socialite and philanthropist Nancy Gan, who was found dead in the swimming pool of her Bukit Timah bungalow last week.
The 69-year-old porcelain artist was the oldest of eight siblings and leaves behind five younger sisters and two brothers, all of whom showed up to pay their respects.
Relatives said they were still in shock over the news of Gan’s death, and that no one in the family had met her recently hired maid Dewi Suko Wati, 23, who has been charged with Gan’s murder and remanded for psychiatric assessment.
The maid had been employed for only nine days before Gan’s body was found at her home. — The Straits Times / Asia News Network
