Lee accepts Indonesia’s apology

Indonesia's Ministry of Environment (MOE) on June 21, 2013, Singapore Environment Minister Vivian Balakrishnan (L) hands to Indonesian counterpart Minister Balthasar Kambuaya (R) a letter from Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (R) during their bilateral meeting to discuss the haze problem in Jakarta.

PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore “wholeheartedly” accepts Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s apology for the haze, and welcomed his promise to spare no efforts in tackling the serious problem.

In a statement yesterday, Lee said that Susilo’s apology, made on Monday in a televised press conference, was gracious.
