JOHOR BARU (Bernama): Nine tabika perpaduan or government kindergartens in Pasir Gudang near here have been ordered to close temporarily in light of the air pollution that has prevailed since Thursday (June 20).

"For the safety of students particularly in the polluted area, I have ordered the department to temporarily close the kindergartens.

"This is in line with the Education Department's directive to suspend classes for all schools and higher learning institutions and government and private kindergartens that are located within the radius of the polluted area from June 23 (Sunday) until June 27 (Thursday)," he said in a statement here Monday (June 24).

The Tanjung Piai Member of Parliament added that the department would continue to monitor the situation.
