KUANTAN: The Kuantan Municipal Council’s (MPK) order to all business premises to start using Jawi script on their signboards has been met with concern, as many fear they may not have enough time to comply.

Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung and Teruntum assemblyman Sim Chon Siang said they had received numerous complaints from the business community after an MPK circular dated April 3 ordered all business premises under its jurisdiction to start using al-Taibah type Jawi script on signboards either in dual language or, at minimum, as a description of the type of business activity.
