Wee: Kit Siang silent on many issues compared to 10 years ago

Interview with MCA President Datuk Seri Dr.Wee Ka Siong.

PETALING JAYA: With the #10YearChallenge currently hot on social media, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong claims that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang has become silent on many issues compared to 10 years or so ago.

The MCA president said back then, Lim used to criticise Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's administration on many issues.

He said among these were Bank Negara Malaysia's foreign exchange scandal which happened in the 1990s and the "cronyism and nepotism" of Dr Mahathir's children, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who is Kedah Mentri Besar and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president, and businessman Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir.

Dr Wee added that Lim also used to criticise the Internal Security Act (ISA), which was used to jail him and his son, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

"It was not surprising back then that Dr Mahathir was called a dictator, cruel, and a mighty pharoah (Mahafiraun)," Dr Wee said in a Facebook post.

However, today Kit Siang had changed and was no longer what he used to be, he added.

"Today, it is as though Kit Siang's 'fangs' are blunt. 

"He does not challenge Dr Mahathir, who is the seventh Prime Minister but (whose party) only holds 16 parliamentary seats," he said.

Wee said Kit Siang was silent when Dr Mahathir accepted Umno politicians who defected into Bersatu.

"The DAP stance is clear: the anti-hopping law should be enacted to ensure that democracy remains strong through a dual party system - government and opposition," he said.

The #10YearChallenge is a throwback challenge where people post pictures of themselves taken in 2009 and this year.
