SEREMBAN (Bernama): The Negri Sembilan state government has cancelled plans to take over the Mawar Medical Centre (MMC) through Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI).

This follows several additional terms that MMC had demanded which MBI could not fulfil.

Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun said the state government planned to take over the medical center with the aim of saving the hospital.

However, the initial agreement between both parties had been changed by MMC, which had imposed several additional terms that MBI could not afford to meet, he told reporters here on Wednesday (Nov 21).

The Health Ministry had on Nov 5 ordered MMC to cease operations following the resignations of all but one of its medical specialists.

It also gave the hospital two months to resolve its licensing issues.

Prior to that, the state government through MBI intended to take over the management of the hospital and the Mawar Hemodialysis Centre (PHM) as a fully state-owned hospital.

The decision to cancel the takeover of MMC was made after studying various aspects and implications to the state government, Aminuddin added. - Bernama
