JOHOR BARU: Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim has described the death of 11-month-old Nur Muazara Ulfa Mohammad Zainal as sickening and disturbing.
In a Facebook post Monday (Nov 12), Tunku Ismail said that he and his wife, Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam, would be part of the Tindak Demi Anak Kita (Tindak) campaign to advocate and raise awareness on child sexual abuse.
The campaign is organised by non-governmental organisation Johor Women’s League (Jewel).
"My wife and I are very concerned of the welfare and well-being of children of all ages, because we too are parents.
"Child sexual abuse is something not to be taken lightly, where it is a serious issue that needs to be addressed because it is just not right on many levels, including religion," Tunku Ismail said.
He added that his family members have always raised their concern in the past regarding the issue and would continue to support such campaign.
"My mother and my sister, namely Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah and Tunku Puteri Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim, will continue their support on campaigns such as this on hope of bringing light to the matter," he said.
Last Friday (Nov 9), Nur Muazara Ulfa died after spending two days at Serdang Hospital in critical condition, believed to be due to physical and sexual abuse by the babysitter’s husband.
Police have detained the babysitter and her husband for further investigations.
