KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has won the Sabah PKR elections after unofficially taking 15 of the 25 divisions that went into the polls on Nov 3 and 4.

The unofficial results on Sunday (Nov 4) for 11 out of 13 divisions indicate that Azmin garnered 7,796 votes while Rafizi Ramli got 5, 581 votes in the race for the deputy president's post.

This is 2, 215 votes more than Rafizi’s tally.

Azmin is said to have won nine divisions, namely Beluran, Putatan, Kudat, Papar, Silam, Ranau, Kinabatangan, Tenom and Kota Belud.

Meanwhile, the unofficial results for the PKR elections yesterday (Saturday, Nov 3) for 11 out of 12 divisions indicate that Azmin took the lead with 5,115 votes against Rafizi’s 4,773, a difference of 342 votes.

Thus the unofficial total of Azmin's lead for the voting on Saturday and Sunday is 2,557 votes.

The divisions that went into the polls on Saturday were Libaran, Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu, Kalabakan, Batu Sapi, Tuaran, Sepanggar, Beaufort, Sipitang, Kota Marudu, Tawau and Keningau.

In the Saturday polls, Azmin and Rafizi each won six divisions with Azmin leading in Libaran, Sandakan, Kalabakan, Sepanggar, Beaufort and Tawau.

Rafizi is said to have won the other remaining divisions though Keningau is most likely to vote again due to a scuffle.

Sabah PKR election chief coordinator Rosli Masaliku said he is not sure if they are able to put up the official results by Sunday as there were many technical problems as well as arguments that happened over these two days.

“We will try to put up the official results as soon as we can, Keningau may need to revote due to the scuffle on Saturday (Nov 4),” he said.
