ALOR SETAR: To honour Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and to encourage a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians, a bank executive has started a 93km run from Alor Setar, Kedah to Penang.

Ahmed Faisal Mohd Lazim, 43, an executive of the Maybank Butterworth branch began his run at the house where Dr Mahathir was born at Jalan Pegawai, Alor Setar at 9.00pm here.

He is expected to arrive at about 9am on Sunday (Sept 15) at Wisma YMSC, King Street, George Town.

Ahmed Faisal is an experienced long distance runner and hopes to keep running whether it rains or not, with some short breaks in between.

He will be running mostly along the old trunk road between Alor Setar to Butterworth. There is a backup vehicle following him as he runs through the night, in case anything happens.
