Lawyer challenges MACC notice barring him from seeing Hasanah

Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid

KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Datuk Shaharudin Ali is challenging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s notice that barred him from seeing his client Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid, who is under a five-day remand over alleged misappropriation of GE14 funds.

In a statement yesterday, Shaharudin said he has initiated proceedings against the MACC at the High Court here in seeking a declaration that Section 28A(8) and (9) of the Criminal Procedure Code is ultra vires to the Federal Constitution and therefore void and of no effect.
