KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation by the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is underway on claims that three of their personnel are still serving as escorts for former defence minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

Current Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu ordered the investigation following reports by a news portal that the three were still working for the former minister.

The report also alleged that the three were drawing salaries from both the MAF and Hishammuddin.

“Let the MAF investigate. We have also asked the three MAF staff to report for duty at the ministry,” he said to a press conference after attending the International Association for Counter-Terrorism and Security Professionals (IACSP) Asean Security Symposium at a hotel here on Monday.

Hishammuddin had since tweeted a reply over the issue, saying that the three ATM personnel have close ties with him and his family, having served them for a long time, and are currently serving him “temporarily”.

The Sembrong MP said he had also offered them employment but they must resign from ATM with immediate effect if they choose to accept the offer.
