LAHAD DATU: Police have arrested a man and confiscated his home-made shotgun and air rifle at a village near Lahad Datu town in Sabah.
A home-made shotgun is typically used for hunting wild animals and to protect traditional farms here.
Acting Lahad Datu police chief Assistant Superintendent Mohd Fadzil Ali said the arrest was carried out under an operation codenamed "Ops Taring" (Operation Fangs) at about 1.30am Wednesday (June 20).
ASP Mohd Fadzil said a police team, acting on a tip-off, raided a house at Sungai Bilis Tanjung Labian and found the two weapons stored behind one of the doors inside.
"Among the seized items were three 12-bore shotgun shells and two Baschieri & Pellagri shotgun shells. Also confiscated were three 12-bore bullet casings found in a pouch, 35 marbles in a net and a bottle of spirit," he explained.
The 50-year-old suspect was brought to the Lahad Datu police headquarters for further action.
