GEORGE TOWN: A meeting between various NGOs and the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) over the cutting down of 21 trees in Tanjung Bungah has eased anger among the former who had opposed the move.

MBPP mayor Yew Tung Seang said the meeting was held with six individuals, namely Penang Citizen Awareness Chant Group (Chant) adviser Yan Lee, city councillor Khoo Salma Nasution, Tanjung Bungah Residents’ Association (TBRA) chairman Meenakshi Raman, TBRA vice-chairman Agnes James, scientist and soil expert Dr Kam Suan Pheng and independent filmmaker Andrew Han, who is the commentator of a video clip on the tree cutting posted on the Pulau Parasit Facebook page.
