HAVING spent years growing up in the former mining town of Pusing in Perak, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah witnessed first-hand the socio-economic struggle of his peers in attaining proper education.
“Poverty and environmental degradation are not abstract concepts for me," he says. "They help form my conviction that education provides the optimum route out of poverty, and that we need to help heal a bleeding Mother Earth."
