Longhouse roof blown away

MIRI: Ferocious wind ripped apart half the roof of the Long Busang longhouse deep in central Sarawak.

The past 24 hours saw heavy rain and strong wind lashing parts of northern and central Sarawak.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department in its report said that the Long Busang settlement now had 80 people left without shelter after the roof was blown away on Monday (May 28) night.

They are sheltering in nearby houses pending help from the state authorities.

There were no fatalities or serious injuries, but there was some additional property damage.

Long Busang is located in the Bukit Mabong district in Kapit Division in central Sarawak.
